Celtic repeated their Betfred Cup final performance in the last Scottish Premiership fixture before the winter break against city rivals Rangers but this time Fraser Forster was unable to repeat his heroics.
The Hoops afternoon was perfectly demonstrated with Ryan Christie’s penalty attempt after Nikola Katic was adjudged to have pulled Christopher Jullien’s shirt at a corner, he failed to take the opportunity to put the Hoops in front – against the run of play – and has now missed his last two spot kicks.
Celtic were again heavily dependent on Odsonne Edouard to trouble Rangers defence and he at least held up his end of the bargain only for James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Christie to offer up insipid displays.
Is James Forrest overrated?
Yes
No
Indeed, it is Forrest that has received most of the backlash on social media after yet another anonymous performance against their nearest challengers.
I said as much yesterday and I’ll say it again – James Forrest was the worst player on the pitch – and should be frankly embarrassed with what he offered up.
One of our best players and Celtic through and through.
Needs to start showing up. #CelticFC

Forrest is one of Neil Lennon’s go to men and it will be interesting to see how he reacts when the Bhoys return to competitive action after the break given the pressure he now finds himself under.
