It’s going to be a very exciting season for Celtic. For the first time in a while, we’ve got some genuine competition in Scotland, and whilst we’re still in the driving seat in pursuit of the title, it’s not going to be easy.
What we certainly don’t need is any major departures, and one man that has been linked with an exit is Scott Brown, who according to the Sun, is courting interest from Australia.
Whether he leaves remains to be seen, but former Celt John Hartson thinks that it’s a sale that the Hoops should be doing everything to avoid.
Whilst everyone knows what Brown offers on the field, there’s no denying that he has dropped off somewhat over the last year or so. However, as Hartson notes, what hasn’t changed is the leadership that he provides.
He commands incredible respect, and he’s at the very top of the playing personnel hierarchy at Celtic Park. To lose him would open up a concerning vacuum within the dressing room at Celtic, and that isn’t something we need, especially right now.
In the summer? Maybe we could view his departure as the start of a new era, but losing him now would only be a bad thing as we look to pursue yet another title charge.
