It was only a matter of time before the Scottish media started to wet themselves at the prospect of Rangers winning a treble.

With one foot in Hampden, it seems this seasons Treble is going to Ibrox.

Never mind that the league campaign is only six days old.

Never mind that the League Cup semi final hasn’t even been won yet.

Never mind the final and also let’s just dismiss the fact that the Scottish Cup doesn’t really start until 22nd January next year, BBC Sportsound are already hawking all three trophies to the Govan club.

With Hibs firmly brushed aside and the League Cup Final a formality, the conversation on the show turned to Treble talk and the host asked, Chris McLaughlin, asked ex Hoops goalkeeper Pat Bonner if he thought Rangers were “hot favourites” to win the treble.

Bonners reply was first class, “No. To win all domestic competitions is a big task. Celtic have done it in the past but I think it’s a bigger competition this year.

“Celtic are they’re not that far off it. If they get all their players back. Forrest is missing. Kyogo is missing. You’ve got McGregor missing. These are all big players for Celtic.

Get them back, and I think they’ll put up the competition. It’ll be a good competition this year there’s no doubt about that.

“So I wouldn’t put them down as hot favourites to win all competitions.

“They will one, probably one, I’m not gonna say which one. But they’ll win one, maybe two, might be to challenge them.

“But to do the three, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.”

There is a hell of a lot of football still to be played and Bonner is 100% correct.

Once Ange Postecoglou get’s all his injured players back into the team, we are a force to be reckoned with.

But the task at hand is to get through a tough month in October with away games against Aberdeen, Hibs and Motherwell.

Get through that with maximum points and the chances of Celtic winning the league will increase greatly.
