Yesterday seemed to be a hotbed of Matt O’Riley stories.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been the subject of much speculation this week as Leicester City have been rumoured to be casting admiring glances towards the Celtic player.
It was thought that if Newcastle’s £50m+ move for James Maddison went through this summer, Brendan Rodgers could look to replace him with O’Riley.
But this latest update from journalist, Pete O’Rourke, should provide some comfort to the Celtic fans:
Leicester have told Newcastle that James Maddison is not for sale this summer after rejecting two bids from the Magpies for the midfielder. #NUFC #LCFC

The chances of Celtic, in fact, Ange accepting any bids for someone so pivotal to the side should be close to zero. Unless there was silly money being offered.
O’Riley has been a revelation since joining the Hoops in January of this year.
The former MK Dons man made an immediate impact on his debut against Hearts and has quickly shown why Ange Postecoglou brought him to the club.
Instrumental in midfield, O’Riley has great vision and passing ability and is also quick-footed.
I would imagine that with the money available to Newcastle, we haven’t heard the last of this story but I have no interest in this as long Brendan Rodgers steers clear of O’Riley as a potential replacement for Maddison.

Matt O’Riley himself does not want to move. He has expressed that clearly himself.
Some things are far more important than money.
