Quoted by the Daily Mail, young defender Liam Morrison has explained exactly why he left Celtic for Bayern Munich this summer and what he hopes to achieve by doing so.

The youngster was seen as one of the brightest footballers at the club for his age group and many wanted to see him rise through the ranks.

Indeed, the Bhoys did their best to offer him a deal that would see him stay at the club but the pull of the German giants clearly proved too great and he now finds himself in Bavaria.

The hard work will start for him now, then, and he has suggested that working with some of the best players in the world – in the future – is why he’s gone there as he looks to become the best defender on the planet.

He explained:

“The final goal for me is to be the best defender in the world.

“That is the ultimate goal. How I get there is by constantly trying to make myself a better player.

“Playing alongside great players can only help me in that respect.”

I can understand why he’s thinking that, I just hope for his sake he does get the chance in the coming years to play for them.
