Quoted by Sport Bild, via Sport Witness, Dedryck Boyata has looked to explain his reasons behind his exit from Celtic in the summer.
The defender was nicknamed bombscare at times during his spell at Celtic Park but he did also have good moments and provided strength in the backline.
He was appearing to agitate for a move for a while, though, and the will he, won’t he sign saga was far from ideal when we were looking to plan for this season.
In the end, he didn’t sign a new deal and left before signing for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.
It seems, too, that he is happy with the fact that he has left the Bhoys with him citing the fact that he had won all he could with us as the reason behind his departure.
He had this to say:
“The truth is, I’ve won everything at Celtic in four years. But it was time to start something new. The Bundesliga is a good challenge for me.”
It’s perhaps no surprise he wanted a new challenge, but the way he dragged things out wasn’t particularly professional.
