As the international window approaches and some of the Celtic first team squad get some much needed rest, Ange Postecoglou was asked by Kenny McIntyre in his post match interview if the Celtic boss believed he had a strong enough squad to mount a serious title challenge this season.

After a vital 2-1 over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, Celtic ended an eight month run where an away win eluded the Parkhead  side and speaking on BBC Sportsound, Ange gave the Celtic supporters a run down on the status of the injury crisis at Celtic Park and hinted to a return of the elusive Giorgos Giakoumakis.

The Hoops gaffer was upbeat in his post match interview as he said, “I think from our perspective, the last international window wasn’t kind to us.

“We lost a couple of key players through injury so from our perspective we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that we get through this international window unscathed.

“And the guys who are coming back from injury and some others we need to do some work within the next sort of ten days. Hopefully we’ll ever have a strong squad to sort of build from this platform.

“We’ve still got some significant outs here.

“I mean both are fullbacks both Josip and Greg are out. Both our wingers Mikey Johnson James Forrest are out.  Chris Julien’s not back yet.

“There’s still guys like Giorgos who needs some work to get them over the next sort of ten days so when everyone’s fit, we haven’t been close to having everyone ready to go, so hopefully that happens.”

The Celtic fans are desperate to see their new boy in action as the general consensus is that current back up striker Albian Ajeti, despite his goal scoring exploits and international call up, is just not up to it at Paradise.
