Quoted by Football Insider, Jackie McNamara has suggested that finances might get in the way of Victor Wanyama returning to the club in the January window.

The Kenyan midfielder was at the club in the early part of the decade before joining the likes of Southampton and then Tottenham in the Premier League.

He’s had a good career since leaving us, but he’s not playing for Spurs much at all now and the talk is that maybe a move back to Celtic Park could be on the cards.

However, according to McNamara, it could well be a pipe dream and nothing more given the Premier League wages that he is bound to be on.

He said:

“There will be a lot of money involved in that. (Potential loan) if they need that cover there but they’ve got Ntcham, McGregor, Brown.

“Get him in if he’s going to play but something might have to give in the midfield for that to happen. He was linked over the summer window and nothing happened. He’ll be on a lot of money there, he might be out of Celtic’s price tag.”

It’s hard to disagree with Jackie, too, given the money that Victor will be on these days.

If he is willing to take a hit maybe we’ll get away with it but we’ll just have to wait and see on that front.
