The Rile McGree story is one that will be forgotten quicker than the player.

Instead of joining a trophy chasing side, McGree decided to chase the money and enter obscurity in the English Championship with Middlesbrough.

Now it could be said that the Teessiders are chasing promotion, but in all honesty, that’s about as good as it will get for McGree.

Now I realise that this is sounding like sour grapes, it is not meant to, but when a club celebrates a signing by taking a pot shot at one of the other clubs that tried to sign their player, it smacks of small club mentality.

And lets all be honest here, McGree was playing second, if not third fiddle, to our current midfield if he did join us.

As Middlesbrough sent their classless tweet to their masses, the Celtic fans responded as they normally do with quick wit and humour:

And like I have said on many of my blogs, I respect any players right to earn as much money as they can but, please, don’t try and claim he joined your club because of ambition.

It embarrassing for you, and the player.

I look forward to seeing where this move takes his career in the future.
