This will be an interesting dilemma when it presents itself to Ange Postecoglou.

When James Forrest is fit, does he play ahead of Liel Abada?

Abada has enjoyed some very good form for Celtic this season and even although he has had a few quiet games where he hasn’t lived up to the standard we seen earlier in the season, he has still scored six goals in fifteen appearances for the Hoops and created four assists.

And as is typical with wingers, their form can be erratic, and Forrest has certainly had his detractors over the years, but I for one hope this problem reaches Postecoglou’s door as quick as possible.

And I’ll tell you why. Forrest thrives on competition.

Remember when a young Patrick Roberts came to the club and challenged for his position?

Forrest was like a new player.

The same will happen with Abada in the side.

But when both are fit, who starts?

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, pundit Gordon Dalziel says there is only one man who would start in his books, “The one player for me, and I know that it’s a mixed bag with supporters, I think Forrest gives Celtic so much, I really do.

“Without him in the team you notice there’s something missing.

“With him in the team, he can give you goals, he can give you assists, he can play different positions for you.

“He’s an experienced player, he knows what the club is all about.

“I think he’s been a massive miss for Celtic, I really do.

“If you’re asking me if he’s better than Abada and would I play him? All day long.

“I think Abada is a young lad coming into the club, he is finding his feet, yes he’s hitting the ground running, I take all that on board.

“But if you look at it, season after season after season what James Forrest has given Celtic, and the experience and everything he’s got,  I will certainly be trying to get him in my team as quickly as I can.”

For me, it also has to be Forrest and Abada off the bench as an impact player. Late in the game when teams are tiring he would be a real threat with his pace and power and direct running.

But with Forrest not due back to the first team for at least a few weeks, the Hoops fans will need to wait for that particular conundrum to be solved.
