Quoted by Football Insider, Jackie McNamara has looked to boost the confidence of the Hoops in Greg Taylor by lavishing praise on our new left-back.

The Bhoys saw Kieran Tierney leave the club earlier on in the summer window as he joined Arsenal and that was certainly something that few of us wanted to see.

We needed a replacement, then, and though we left it late I think many of us feel as though we’ve potentially got the best man for the job in the former Kilmarnock man Taylor.

Indeed, Jackie McNamara seems to agree with that and he had this to say ahead of his full Celtic debut which will hopefully be sooner rather than later:

“The fans will really like him. He gets stuck in, he’s tenacious.

“He defends well and he can play – he’ll find it a lot easier. No disrespect to the Kilmarnock players but Celtic will have the ball most of the game compared to them. Guys like McGregor, they’ll carry the ball, and he can overlap, get in behind and whip some balls in.”

Some exciting words from the former Hoop, then, and we’re all hoping to see Taylor come in and do as well as KT did.

It’ll be hard, but he’s got all the tools to make it.
