Celtic were rampant once more at home against St Mirren in yesterday’s 6-0 romp at Celtic Park. In an incredible performance where the Hoops continued their amazing attacking football, that now makes it thirteen league goals scored in three fixtures for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

With each passing game the performances from the team get slicker and the passing gets sharper. No one can get near them as St Mirren player Alan Power found to his misfortune yesterday.

In a shocking tackle against Hoops midfielder David Turnbull, Power was shown a straight red for an over the ball, studs showing reckless attempt at a tackle which, if it made a proper connection, could have had serious repercussions for the young Celtic midfielder.

The panel on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard were incredibly split on whether it was a red card or not as the pundits covering the game gave their thoughts.

Gordon Dalziel reckoned it was a straight red from where he was sitting covering the match for the radio station, but the rest of the pundits? Here we go:

Hugh Keevins: “Well, I cannot go back and when I say that the time. Like Gordon I said it’s a red card, and I was the only one a four in here that said it.”

Mark Wilson: ” Yeah, I’m still standing by why said, I think, it is quick. It starts high, but if that was me I’d be disappointed to get a red card for that.”

Alex Rae: “Yeah I was just I was of the same opinion as Mark at that the time. You know he’s clearly caught him. But as I said, I thought it was a yellow.”

Unsurprising from Alex Rae that he thought it was a yellow. An ex player that made a career out of rash tackles disagreeing with, well, a red card for a rash tackle.

Mark Wilson strangely also thought the tackle wasn’t a red, but as a full back he will always err on the side of the defending player and fair play to Hugh who stuck by his guns and called it out for what it was.

Celtic fans are just thankful that the tackle didn’t cause any real damage to arguably one of their best players.
