Celtic fans have celebrated yet another victory over city rivals Rangers after their attempts to lead a revolution were emphatically defeated by nearly 70% of SPFL members, the Parkhead club responded with a statement of their own showing their support for the current executives.

Peter Lawwell has been conspicuous by his absence in recent weeks, allowing others to take centre stage throwing accusations around whilst he saved his efforts for the big day, making a “rousing speech” during the EGM according to The Daily Record.

In a passionate statement, the Hoops pleaded for unity and dropped in a subtle dig at Rangers previous monetary troubles:

“We now appeal to all clubs to look to the future in the knowledge that the threats which exist to the fabric of Scottish football are grave and unprecedented. All of our energies should be applied to planning for the return of the game in season 2020-21 and to the financial survival of all our clubs.”

Celtic fans were delighted with both the statement and the outcome as they continue to bask in their club’s position as the eminent force in Scottish football.

The Celtic hierarchy will know that this is unlikely to be the last we hear from the Ibrox club as they struggle to come to terms with their place amongst the also rans of football north of the border after suffering yet another defeat.
