According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic are still well in the race for Jack Marriott but Rangers have pulled out as they do not have the money.

The striker hit over 30 goals last season for Peterborough United in all competitions with most coming in England’s Sky Bet League One.

Certainly, he’s a player with a bright future ahead of him and at £5m he is a player that the Celts are taking a serious look at.

Rangers, meanwhile, will not be able to afford him but that does not mean the battle isn’t going to be close with Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday all linked south of the border.

The Verdict

Marriott is a bright player with plenty of talent but I think a step up to our club would be too soon for him.

He’s only played one season in Sky Bet League One and has no experience at the higher levels and we’ve got plenty of attacking options already.

Perhaps we should just keep tabs.
