Referee Bobby Madden has been demoted by two divisions this weekend following his controversial penalty award against Celtic on Sunday.

Madden gave a late spot-kick to St Mirren in the 1-1 draw in Paisley as a result of Emilio Izaguirre’s soft looking challenge on Esmael Goncalves. Former Celtic man Paul McGowan converted the resultant penalty.

The official will now take charge of the Second Division clash between Arbroath and Albion Rovers this coming weekend.

Meanwhile, Goncalves has been offered a two-match suspension by the SFA for simulation as his part in the incident and has until tomorrow to respond.
