Reliable journalist rules out Celtic move for electric £2.25m-rated winger

|

Celtic won’t be making a January move for Houston Dynamo winger Alberth Elis, despite Twitter speculation he could be on his way to Glasgow, according to Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan.

Curious reports from the United States emerged over the weekend suggesting that the electric winger could be set to leave Major League Soccer, but that’s been shut down by the usually reliable McGowan.

22-year-old Elis, rated at £2.25m by Transfermarkt is a significant talent having emerged as one of the most consistent attacking players in MLS over the last couple of years. He had a dynamite 2018 for Houston, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 times in 34 appearances.

That’s the kind of attacking contribution from the wing that would likely excite Celtic supporters, even though we are well stocked on the left and right flanks already.

McGowan has a decent track record of getting transfer stories right at the Hoops and appears to have good contacts at senior levels at the club.

Sadly that all but rules out a move for Elis and Celtic fans will have to move on to fresh January speculation as expectations to make a permanent signing increase.

Can the club deliver the recruitment that supporters are desperate to see this month?
