As per Ouest France, Jakob Johansson is likely to be missing for Rennes on Thursday night as the Europa League group action gets underway this week.

The Bhoys are in France for matchweek one and face a tough test with Rennes starting the season well over the Channel and having a style that is high-tempo and laced with good players.

However, we will feel as though we can beat them if we can match them for intensity and they do have another injury issue to deal with, though it might not hand us much of a boost.

Indeed, the report reveals how Johansson left Rennes’ training at the start of the week on crutches and it’s unlikely that he’ll feature on Thursday.

He has, however, struggled for game time this and last season thanks to fitness issues and the ever-improving Rennes midfield so it might not be that much of a problem for them.

They’ve got some good players to use this Thursday, and we’ll need to rise to the challenge.
