Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham will miss out on today’s visit to Kilmarnock, as reported by The Daily Record.

The Frenchman looked to be on the verge of a first-team return having actually been named in last week’s match squad to face St Johnstone before dropping out before kick-off.

The paper report that his hamstring problem has flared up again, meaning he joins Kieran Tierney, Anthony Ralston, Filip Benkovic, Tom Rogic, Eboue Kouassi, Daniel Arzani and Leigh Griffiths on today’s unavailable list.

Given we have such a heavy schedule right now, it’s not great having so many first-team stars out of action. In midfield it’s especially a problem considering the effort and work rate that Callum McGregor, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie put into matches.

Having Ntcham available today would have eased the pressure on one of that trio ahead of an energy sapping trip to Spain this Thursday.

Thankfully Brendan Rodgers can still name a strong eleven to see off the threat of Kilmarnock. Three points will move us eight clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership and could effectively end a much-hyped ‘title race’.

Can the Bhoys get the job done?
