As we all woke up to the inevitable news this morning that Ange had been ‘linked’ to the vacant Leeds United job, you could almost hear every Celtic fan in the country’s eyes roll.

This kind of lazy reporting has become the norm as it’s not reliable sources in the game that makes the link.

For example, we reported on this story twice this morning that Paul Robinson (whose only link to this story is that he used to play for Leeds) said that his old club should push the boat out and ‘go and get’ the Celtic boss.

Tenuous at best, mischief-making at worst but also par for the course for us up here.

And no sooner had that link appeared, Chris Sutton came out and trashed any notion that Ange would give Celtic up for the Yorkshire club.

And what Sutton said is what Celtic fans have been saying all along.

The time will come for Ange to leave the club, but now is not that time and it won’t be to a relegation-threatened EPL club. He deserves better than that.

But there could be good news on the horizon for the Celtic fans.

According to Football Insider, the club are keen to tie Ange down to a long-term contract that ‘could’ include a release clause which I am assuming means that if a club from one of the big five leagues comes calling, he can talk to them.

However it works out, news of a contract extension would be a welcome boost to the Celtic fans who constantly have to endure these headlines whenever a manager is sacked in the EPL.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
