Well, at least we’ll know that we’re going to get to finish the season, it’s just a matter of when not if.

According to Bryan Swanson of Sky Sports News, during a conference call of all 55 UEFA Nations yesterday, there was plenty of talk surrounding various suspensions of competitions, leading to the Champions League and Europa League being postponed indefinitely, but tellingly in Swanson’s words “not one association raised the issue of cancelling the season”.

This is great news for Celtic, as it means our wait for nine-in-a-row is merely going to be delayed for a couple of months rather than a whole season while we have to wait to challenge for it again in 2020/21.

It might simply be a case of ‘speak it into existence’, but I get the feeling that the more we keep up the idea of getting the season finished, whether that be behind closed doors or not (although the former does seem to be the most likely option in my mind), then the more likely it is that the season will get completed.

Would you care if the 2019/20 title and 9-in-a-row had an asterisk next to it?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Compare this to Ajax chief Marc Overmars who wants the Dutch Eredivisie stopped completely. The more and more that we keep bringing up the idea of cancelling/voiding seasons then the more traction the movement will get and we might find that our season will get cancelled or voided in one way or another.

And with something as prestigious as nine titles in a row up for grabs, I’m pretty sure that’s something that a lot of Celtic fans won’t want to happen.
