It was being reported on Wednesday morning that highly rated youth goalkeeper Ryan Mullen had rejected the offer of a new contract at Celtic.

The 18-year-old talent is considered one of the brightest prospects to come out of our youth system over the past few years and not only has he impressed for us at age group levels, he’s also began making a name for himself at country level.

With only six months left on his current deal, the club will naturally consider this a significant blow but if the source led claims are correct, plenty will be hoping this is the typical modern day style of negotiation where the deal is close, but the players’ representative is just seeing what else can be eeked out before pen is put to paper.

As expected, the report then suggests that other clubs are on alert ahead of the January transfer window, but you’d think there would be a quick resolution to this one.
