Report details how Brendan Rodgers broke the news to ‘stunned’ Celtic players

|

A report in The Evening Times suggests that Brendan Rodgers broke the news of his departure to Celtic players on Monday afternoon at Lennoxtown.

Reporter Alison McConnell, who has been a reliable source throughout the Rodgers to Leicester debacle, says that the former Hoops boss gathered his backroom staff together after training to deliver the bombshell.

The report states that the Celtic players were left stunned by the news, not realising that the reported move to the English Premier League was such a viable rumour.

What followed has been described as shock, as the Hoops stars came to realise that all of this was actually happening.

Clearly this is something that has come out of the blue for everyone involved at the club, with events moving incredibly quickly after the weekend sacking of Claude Puel.

The immediate challenge for interim manager Neil Lennon is now picking up the pieces left in the wake of Rodgers’ controversial exit, with the challenge of Hearts tonight at Tynecastle focusing minds quickly.

Three points are a must to show the rest of Scottish football our title will not be taken from us easily, with the knives now out for a Celtic fall from grace.
