The Daily Record claims that Celtic are keeping an eye on Rennes right-back, Brandon Soppy, as plans for next season are put in place.
Despite the 18-year-old yet to play a first-team game for the French side, the article states that he is valued at around €8million (£7.4m) which would represent a sizeable transfer fee for an untested youngster, regardless of their potential.
French journalist, Manu Lonjon, is the source of the speculation after tweeting that the Parkhead club and RB Leipzig are monitoring the French Under-18 international.
Le RB Leipzig accélère fort sur Brandon Soppy ( Rennes) .
Nice et le Celtic ( entre autres) également intéressé.

Even if Celtic were desperately needing a right-back £7m would represent a large proportion of any transfer budget but, currently, they don’t need anyone in that position having signed Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong last summer.
James Forrest has also been utilised in the right wing-back role in Neil Lennon’s now favoured 3-5-2 formation making the speculation linking the Hoops with Soppy appear to be just that, speculation.
The Record does say that Soppy is capable of playing anywhere along the back line, however, it is unlikely that he would replace any of the current incumbents given his lack of experience at senior level.
The transfer fee wold suggest that if Celtic did sign him that he would be going straight into the starting line-up but again, the board would be unlikely to sanction such a fee for a player as untested as Soppy.
With no action to write about, the coming weeks and months are likely to see the void filled with transfer rumours and gossip, expect plenty more like this one in the future regardless of how much sense they make.
