Report: Lennon “keeping calm” as transfer window about to close despite speculation

|

Neil Lennon has poured cold water on any potential deadline day deals as he wants fans not to expect any marquee signings in the closing stages of the transfer window as reported by The Daily Express.

Speaking as part of his pre-match press conference for tonight’s fixture against St Johnstone, the Parkhead gaffer said:

“You have to keep calm. You have to not get yourself into a tizzy and panic and take a step away and have a look and see what’s required”.

“Fans want the marquee signing in the car park but sometimes that’s not realistic”.

Celtic have had a relatively busy window so far with Scott Sinclair, Lewis Morgan, Eboue Kouassi and Jack Hendry all making their way out the door and have strengthened with £3.5m striker Patryk Klimala and £2m defensive midfielder Ismaila Soro.

Lennon is happy with his squad as he sees his team sit proudly atop the Scottish Premiership with a five point cushion following Rangers defeat against lowly Hearts at Tynecastle, they are also still in contention in both the Scottish Cup and Europa League with the league cup already in the trophy cabinet.

Despite the Northern Irishman’s appointment initially being met with disappointment in some quarters he has his team some fourteen points better of than this time last season, improving a team that has won seven consecutive trophies takes a lot of doing but Lennon appears to have managed it and deserves all the plaudits that come his way.

So, although Celtic fans will be disappointed with the news that there will be little to get excited about in the next few days they can be content with their current situation that sees them remain the team to beat north of the border.
