Celtic are going to be linked with all and sundry in what I tend to call the transfer silly season.

With Jota and CCV speculation reaching fever pitch, the Hoops are now being strongly linked with some Man City youngsters especially as the club has enjoyed some loan successes via The Citizens after Paddy Roberts and Jason Denayers successful spells at the clubs.

But a report from The Express has linked our club to yet another City ‘wonderkid’ in Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

The report says, “Left-back is set to be a high priority for Celtic this summer, and Josh Wilson-Esbrand could be the perfect candidate to step in.

“It would be something of a punt given that the 19-year-old only has one senior appearance for the Sky Blues, but it was a hugely impressive showing in their 6-1 demolition of Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup last September.”

Although his experience at first team level is limited, Esbrand has racked up over 1500 minutes of football this season at u23 level.

With 21 appearances last season, the youngster also represented his club in the UEFA Youth League 4 times, scoring once.

His impressive form at that level has earned him a call up for the England u20’s and clearly this is a lad with huge potential.

But is potential what we really need at the moment? Or given our track record with young full backs from City is this a punt worth taking?
