According to Fanatik – via Sport Witness – Trabzonspor are leading the race to sign free agent and former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.
The report claims that Celtic boss Neil Lennon has been monitoring the situation involving Sturridge but at the moment it looks as though the Turkish side is the most capable of getting a deal done.
Sturridge, of course, was at Liverpool for a long period of time but injuries limited how much he could play – though when he did he was very sharp indeed.
For sure, he could tear it up in Scotland if he arrived but we’d all ask questions over whether we could afford his wages and it seems as though the Turkish side is more confident of being able to shell out.
Without doubt, I’d like to see Sturridge turn up at our club and strut his stuff but there’s also no doubt it would surely be risky to our wage structure, so it’s for the best if we don’t get him I’d say.
