Brendan Rodgers has moved to play down a move for Danny Ings this summer with it evident that he wants to leave Liverpool this summer.

The striker signed for the Reds under Rodgers as one of the final signings of his Anfield reign.

Since then, though, he’s been injured quite a bit and fallen down the pecking order to the extent where he now wants to leave the Merseyside giants.

As quoted by Sky Sports, though, Brendan has played down the idea of him coming up to Glasgow.

He said:

“Danny (Ings) is a fantastic player and has been really, really unfortunate for a few years with injury but I have got the three strikers at the moment and we don’t need any more.”

The Verdict

He’d be a class arrival but we probably can’t get to his wages and we’ve got enough attacking players as it is.

I’ve no doubt he’d score goals up here and be a real favourite but there’s no need for him to join us and so it makes sense Brendan has played things down.

Still, he did that with Mario Balotelli once!
