Rodgers drops massive transfer hint

|

As Celtic lose out on Mark McKenzie to Genk, the club still seem in the market for a central defender to help push the Hoops closer to their rivals at the top of the table.

With Duffy returning home from the winter training camp in Dubai due to personal reasons and Julien out for at least four months with a knee injury, Celtic’s defensive woes continue and the race to sign cover hots up.

Celtic may be in the running to land Filip Benkovic for a shock return to the Hoops as the big Croatian was recalled from his loan spell down south.  Leicester boss, Brendan Rodgers, dropped a massive hint today that a deal could be struck between the two clubs, “It’s certainly a possibility. It’s a huge club and he did very well there. We haven’t had any contact but he’s back now and we will see what happens.

“Celtic would be a great move for him. He’s at the age where he really needs to be playing and that didn’t quite materialise at Cardiff.

“I would never blame another manager for not playing someone because circumstances can change all the time but unfortunately it didn’t work out.

“It’s quite simple really, it’s now a case of finding somewhere where he can go next and get some game time.”

Benkovic became a fans’ favourite as his no nonsense defending was popular with  the Hoops fans but injury hampered his first spell at Celtic. He looks fit and raring to go and Rodgers seems keen for a deal to be struck for the 23 year old.
