Reports have surfaced this morning that Leicester boss, Brendan Rodgers, has “won the race” for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.  According to Mail Online, Rodgers believes he has his man in a £15m deal due to be concluded in the summer.

£15m? For which leg?  Not only is £15m a derisory offer for a quality player but after the 40% sell on clause is taken into account, Celtic would stand to BREAK EVEN on the French u21 star.

Roma, Arsenal and West Ham have all been linked at some stage or another with Edouard so the chances of Celtic allowing him to leave for £15m are slim.

NO

However, it is reported that Edouard is keen to link up again with Rodgers, who brought him to the club, and it is also well known that The Foxes boss is looking for a long term replacement for ageing hitman, Jamie Vardy, and Rodgers clearly sees Edouard fitting that bill.

Edouard is Scotland’s top goal scorer this season with twenty goals in thirty two appearances and over the course of his tenure at Celtic Park, the 23 year old has bagged 83 goals.

With only twelve months left on his current deal and no extension in sight, Celtic fans will be resigned to lose Edouard in the summer and the race to find his replacement will be on. The only hope is that if the board can garner as large a fee as possible for Edouard so that the new manager coming in will have a sizeable amount of cash to begin the rebuilding process.
