Celtic have a contingent of players currently representing the club at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy, Josip Juranovic and Cameron Carter-Vickers are hoping to make their mark on the tournament and, with the exception of Carter-Vickers who found himself on the bench for the opening USA match, they have all fared relatively well in the early stages.

The first round of fixtures in the World Cup are traditionally cagey affairs. The consequences of losing your opening game mean you teeter on the brink of failure should any more points be dropped in the second game.

And that’s the situation Germany find themselves in after losing to Daizen Maeda’s Japan.

But it was the Celtic striker that was the focus of former Celtic midfielder Roy Keane.

Keane was reviewing the match and pointed out Maeda’s main mistake where he was caught offside for his ‘goal’ against the Germans.

As reported by HITC, Keane said, “They [Japan] will still be encouraged by it.

“If you are going to play on the counter-attack, then you are going to need pace, space and runners.

“That will encourage them. Okay, it was bad decision-making (from Maeda), but they can still score a goal by playing that system.”

But this is not new information for the Celtic fans.

Maeda has been found guilty of poor decision-making on many occasions.

Whether it’s his final ball into the box or poorly timed runs, the Japanese striker does need to start learning from these otherwise the advantage of his speed and work rate is just wasted.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
