Many players at Celtic have impressed this term, but Ryan Christie has been perhaps the most impressive surprise-package of the season so far. The attacking midfielder began the campaign as more of a rotational option, but he’s now emerged as one of Brendan Rodgers’ favoured players.

He’s really improved every aspect of his game, and the attacker has put much of that down to the impact of Brendan Rodgers over the last year or two.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, he said: ‘Brendan Rodgers has given me that long-term plan and the mindset that I need to keep my head down and keep working hard’.

Christie added: ‘Even when I was going out on loan to Aberdeen, he still made sure that he had a plan for me and this was for me to benefit from and to come back to play for Celtic’.

Clearly, Christie places a lot of stock in Brendan Rodgers, and that shows the sort the sort of impact that the manager has been able to have on his players.

Not only is he working on weekly tactics and planning for the next game, but Rodgers is also looking a few years ahead – and that bodes well for our long-term future.

The Ryan Christie of this season is an entirely different player to that which was present last term, and his rise has been spectacular. He’s only getting better at the moment, and both he and Rodgers deserve a lot of credit for that.
