Celtic legend Scott Brown is set to be named as the boss of English League One side Fleetwood Town.

A report by The Daily Mail [via Daily Record] has stated that the former Celtic captain has agreed terms to take over The Cod Army who currently sit twentieth in England’s third tier and, incredibly, missed out on the League Two play offs on goal difference.

Brown recently announced his retirement from football and made clear his intentions to step into a coaching role and it seems that Fleetwood are keen for the Quadruple Treble legend to take up the mantle.

Broony is set to take over from another former Celt, Stephen Crainey.

Fleetwood began searching for a new head coach after the club revealed that Crainey will go back to his position as U23s manager.

In 1997, Fleetwood were reformed for the FOURTH time in their history and started off in  Division One of the North West Counties Football League.

They made the journey through the wilderness leagues until in 2009 they won promotion to the Conference Leagues.

From there they qualified to the EFL after a 29 game unbeaten run saw them lift the Conference title and move into the EFL for season 2011.

It was after that season that they sold one Jamie Vardy for £1m to Leicester City which was a record fee for a non league club at the time.

We all wish Broony well and will be keeping a close eye on his new venture.
