Celtic can’t bask in the afterglow of Sunday’s superb Scottish League Cup win for too long – there are must-win challenges ahead.

The Hoops’ schedule before the end of the year is absolutely brutal and it all begins with a trip to Fir Park on Wednesday night to play Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

With Rangers going top of the table yesterday and Steven Gerrard’s side playing Aberdeen at the same time as we face the Steelmen, it could be an enormously important 90 minutes in the context of the media-hyped ‘title race’.

Brendan Rodgers has a few big team selection calls to make, with his starting eleven recently completing energy sapping matches against Rosenborg and the Dons without much rotation.

One player that could be in line for a starting berth at Fir Park is Leigh Griffiths, who returned to first-team action last week against Hamilton, scoring with his first from a belting free-kick.

Odsonne Edouard is clearly first choice at the Hoops and rightly so, he offers far more to the team. However, it’s a long month ahead and it’s impossible for him to play every match.

The Frenchman played the full 90 minutes of Sunday’s final and looked fairly tired towards the end, also showing some suspect decision making in the final third.

The game against ‘Well is a good chance for Griffiths to come in and get game time without compromising the quality of the team too much.

Do you think Leigh Griffiths should start on Wednesday? Have your say in our poll below…
