Celtic are through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League despite being beaten by RB Salzburg at home this evening.
The Hoops went into the match knowing that a draw would guarantee their progression, thinking there was little chance that RB Leipzig would fail to beat Rosenborg at home in the other Group G match.
However, the evening’s script was completely rewritten after Salzburg went 2-0 ahead at Celtic Park before the Norwegians scored a late equaliser in Germany, putting Brendan Rodgers’ team into the last 32 draw.
It all turned out fantastically despite the eventual 2-1 defeat in Glasgow, with fans dancing in the stands when the news came through.
Despite the poor performance against the Austrians, fans did want to pay tribute to one player who came on and gave his all – Scott Brown.
The Hoops captain was substituted on for Scott Sinclair at half-time in an attempt to make Celtic more competitive in the match, with many fans feeling he did exactly that.
These supporters took to Twitter to share their praise for his display…
That'll do bhoys. Considering how we started this season, that's some achievement. 9 points is 9 points. Played okay after broony came on, Gordon howler aside we made a game of it.
