On the day of a massive European tie at Celtic Park, the transfer rumours continue and Sky Sports have just reported that the Hoops are hot on the trail of Brazilian right back Yan Couto.

Couto is another Man City link as the English Premier League giants are looking to allow him to leave on a loan to gain first team experience.

Using their links to City Group, the Hoops are also keen to take Japanese centre back Ko Itakura to Paradise but Sky Sports says that Celtic have been tracking Couto since the beginning of the summer.

Couto started his career at Brazilian Serie B side Coritiba back in 2020 and City picked him up after the Brazilian was tipped to sign for Barcelona.

Couto has a five year contract with Manchester City and spent last season on loan with Girona in the Spanish Second Division.

The nineteen year old made twenty two appearances for Girona before returning to City in the summer and the Premier League club are keen to loan him out again this season.

With Celtic still reportedly trailing Josip Juranovic from Legia Warsaw for £2.5m, it looks like the Parkhead club are preparing a contingency plan just in case that move falls through as Juranovic is also attracting attention from Fiorentina and Spartak Moscow.

Couto himself is also on the radar of various club across Europe according to Sky, and he is said to be weighing up his options before deciding on his next move.

Couto clearly has a bright future ahead of him and although not capped at full international level, he does have 25 u17 Brazilian caps and one goal to his name.
