Celtic fans were stitched up by Sky Sports News yesterday after it was revealed that Edinson Cavani was handing in a transfer request at Paris Saint Germain, the channel made the announcement with the Argentina forward signing autographs – in front of Celtic Park.

Twitter did what Twitter does best, went into meltdown, as attention to detail and common sense was ignored in spades with fans of the Parkhead club beginning to dream the impossible dream – that a Β£300k per week striker was on his way to sign for the Bhoys – but alas it wasn’t to be.

Celtic look to have ended their striker search with the signing of Β£3.5m man Partryk Klimala and with Leigh Griffiths scoring against Partick Thistle it looks as though Neil Lennon has, once again, got decent options in attack.

Lennon started with two central strikers against Partick and it will be interesting to see if he perseveres with the formation when the Scottish Premiership kicks-off again on Wednesday against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Do you think Neil Lennon should stick with two strikers against Kilmarnock?

Yes

No

No

Celtic fans took to social media after seeing the Sky Sports tweet (more in hope than expectation) and some appeared to be more serious than others, here is a selection of the best.

Despite the disappointment of “missing out” on Cavani, Celtic fans appear happy with the strikers at Lennon’s disposal now since the addition of Klimala as his side continue their pursuit of domestic dominance and 9-in-a-row.
