It certainly has been a week for it hasn’t it?
The amount of transfer speculation surrounding the club has been at fever pitch and recent developments over the weekend certainly suggest that the Parkhead club mean business.
With four transfers already complete, there seems to be no stopping the Hoops as they bid to make Jota and Cameron Carter Vickers permanent members of the squad this January.
But it was one specific story that captured the imagination of the Celtic fans over the weekend and that is the capture of Australian international Riley McGree.
The story broke on Sunday morning that the Hoops had approached Charlotte FC from the MLS about the availability of the Socceroo and that was further confirmed by Sam Stejskal late in the same afternoon.
Source confirms that Charlotte are close to deal to sell Riley McGree to Celtic. Fee a little under $3 million, potential to rise another $1-2 million depending on performance.
Charlotte acquired McGree in Oct. 2020 from Adelaide United and immediately loaned him to Birmingham. https://t.co/vmpYE280Av

Stejskal is a journalist for The Athletic and specialises in the American Major League Soccer and confirmed that the fee is just under £3m.
And this move was further commented on by Daniel Gard who specialises in Australian soccer for major sports site ABC and is an Australian Ballon d’Or judge as he described the move as ‘big’.
Big. Ange Postecoglou is set to make his first Australian signing at Celtic and it looks a beaut of a deal for the super impressive Riley McGree. ⚽️🇦🇺👏 https://t.co/UDtbqUueNy

Talented midfielder. Can play anywhere in midfield – as a holding mid, box to box, attacking mid or even out wide. Best position is as an 8 – box to box – for mine. Full of energy with a good eye for goal. Did really well for @BCFC in the Championship who didn't want to lose him.

This move seems a lot bigger than many Celtic fans originally thought and it does look like the Hoops are getting a serious player if the move is completed this week.
