Youth seems to be Ange Postecoglou’s mantra and with the latest transfer rumour doing the rounds, this next defender should excite the Celtic fans.
According to Spanish news outlet, Mundo Deportivo, Celtic are hot on the trail of young Ecuadorian superstar Piero Hincapié.
Piero Hincapié been in sensational form his country at this summer’s Copa America and has been attracting huge interest from all over Europe.
If the Hoops are keen on getting their man it does seem that they may have to pay over the odds for the young Ecuadorian centre back but at just 19 years of age, this is a gamble worth seeing through.
Hincapié ply’s his trade in the Argentine Super League for Tallares. He signed for Tallares just last August from Independiente but his form for his national side means he is potentially in for a big money move this summer.
According to the report, the cream of European football are all keeping tabs on him with names such as Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Paris St Germain all listed as potential suitors for the young left footed defender.
With youth on the agenda for the Glasgow giants, this move ties in with boss Ange Postecoglou’s transfer policy but it could prove difficult to get this deal over the line.
Hincapié is co owned which is why Talleres are looking for €10m and the complications here could be a major stumbling block.
With not just European top guns looking at Hincapié, Spanish cracks Real Betis and Italian giants Roma are also said to be sniffing around.
