Stephen McGowan makes bizarre Celtic claim

There is a media narrative now doing the rounds since Sunday’s loss in the Scottish Cup that somehow Celtic are tired and may slip up in the last five games in the title run in.

It really is strange and proves just how fickle the media are in Scotland.

In fact, it also proves that they are just waiting on an opportunity to pounce on a Celtic mistake to create headlines and push an agenda against the club at the first opportunity.

For example, the 7-0 win against St Johnstone, Celtic were untouchable. Champions on their own right and that was after the Glasgow Derby 2-1 win where the media piled on the pressure for Celtic not to slip against the Perth men in the build up to that match.

And it’s happening again.

Trusted journalist Stephen McGowan of The Daily Mail, made a claim on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard about the Hoops side that I found to be a wee bit disingenuous.

When asked if Celtic should be wary of their trip to Dingwall, McGowan said, “Absolutely. You have to remember, there’s something about the Highlands, I think for Celtic, when you think back to 2011 when they went up to Inverness, lost that game, and lost the title.

“I know it’s a long time ago but sometimes some places just stick in people’s minds and and even the last time Celtic went to Dingwall, it was a 96 minute winner for Anthony Ralston.

“I think Malky Mackay has done a terrific job.

“I think he’s really gotten him in a really good place where they also have something to play for. Ross County going for Europe, and he’s quite open about it.

“So I think it’s going to be a really difficult day for Celtic. And they have to stand up and be counted, and just take away that small doubt creeping in.”

Doubt creeping in? What doubt? And from who?

The manager and the players have certainly shed no light of doubt creeping in.

Even the Celtic fans believe that Sunday’s result is just one of those things that happen.

For me, the element of doubt is coming from the media. They are now starting to question the teams psyche after one defeat in over thirty games. Three-zero. 30.

If I was a paranoid fan I would be tempted to say there was an agenda being set against the club…………but I’m not paranoid.

So………………………..

Over 90 minutes, it was a draw against a bad Celtic performance. Just a small point for those Sevco media doubting Celtic….

“Trusted journalist “? No such thing is this country’s mainstream media anymore as far as I’m concerned.
