This was brutal.

Even for Mark Wilson’s standards, this was a very cut to the bone assessment of a title winning squad.

As soon as Gerrard left for the Midlands, it was only a matter of time before all talk turned to the former Gers boss looking north to raid his old club for that star studded array of talent that we are always being told he had at his disposal.

It will be very interesting to see just how highly he rates his old squad to see if he does head back up to Ibrox to dip into the talent at Ibrox.

But former Celtic star, Mark Wilson was having none of it.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Wilson delivered a damning summation of the squad and said there is only one player he expects the new Villains gaffer to come to back Glasgow for a Govan raid. “I think Kent maybe when he’s on form. There’s no doubt he’s a talent and a big talent at that.

“If you are judging this Rangers squad just now, Aribo would be the only one that would come into you’re thinking.

“I think Tavernier, as good as his goals and assists last season, he isn’t as good as he was last season.

“Goldson has went backwards.

“Then the big one is the striker who Steven Gerrard has chatted about in years gone by. Top striker. He’s went backwards.

“I don’t think Steven Gerrard would go near him. Morelos.”

Brutal assessment and I agree with him.

Morelos has done nothing to earn his big money move to the EPL or any of Europe’s top flight clubs.
