Striker Leigh Griffiths apologised to manager Brendan Rodgers following his angry reaction to being substituted against Partick Thistle.

The Scotland international was replaced just past the hour of the comprehensive 5-0 victory having already been on the mark from the penalty spot at Firhill Stadium.

“I spoke to him this morning at length,” Rodgers told BBC Scotland. “He apologised sincerely for his reaction. But we draw a line under it now and we’ll move on and he’ll start and be ready for Hearts on Sunday.

“It’s been frustrating for him this season,” he conceded. “He’s had a multitude of injuries, sick, not able to train as much as he would like and then to see the team doing so well and him not maybe playing as much as he would like.”
