Celtic’s out-of-favour striker Nadir Ciftci has joined Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old already had a recent temporary stay south of the border with League One club Plymouth Argyle, but failed to register in eight appearances.

However, the Steelmen had previously tried to recruit the former Dundee United marksman on a couple of separate occasions.

“Last January it was in the last minutes of the transfer window and it just didn’t go through because of paperwork,” Ciftci told BBC Scotland. “Then in the summer, it was a bit different as well.

“Now it is the third time and when the chance came, I just grabbed it and now I am here thankfully,” he added. “I obviously know the league and the teams. I’ve played a lot of times against Motherwell as well so it will be a good place to kick on.”
