Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths’ disciplinary hearing has been delayed so that police can finish their enquiries into allegations of racist chanting.

The 23-year-old forward had been due to face charges of bringing the game into disrepute and acting against the best interest of football on Thursday.

However, there is now to be a fortnight’s delay while Police Scotland continue their investigations.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Football Association will review the case on 5th June.

An SFA spokesman confirmed: “At the request of his solicitor, the principal hearing date relating to the notice of complaint issued to Leigh Griffiths on Wednesday, 9 April has been adjourned until Thursday, 5 June, to allow for the conclusion of the ongoing criminal investigation by Police Scotland.”
