Celtic are holding talks with Vitoria Guimaraes striker Amido Balde following his arrival in Glasgow.

“Balde is a big striker and has the physical attributes we are looking for” – Neil Lennon

The 22-year-old still has a year of his current contract remaining but has already expressed a preference to join the SPL champions despite interest from elsewhere, including newly-promoted English Premier League side Crystal Palace.

“He is a player we have scouted and looks the type we would like,” manager Neil Lennon earlier told BBC Scotland. “But, whether we can get a deal done or not, I don’t know. We are just looking to strengthen that area. Balde is a big striker and has the physical attributes we are looking for, but he is interesting other clubs.”

Former Portugal Under-20 international Balde scored nine goals in 27 appearances for his club last season, and measuring in at an impressive 6’4″ would certainly offer the recently-crowned double-winners an alternative in attack.
