Gary Hooper will not be re-joining Celtic any time soon now, with the striker heading down under to join Wellington Phoenix – the club has confirmed.
The striker was a star for us when at the club and also enjoyed a decent career in the top two leagues in England.
After Sheffield Wednesday let him go in the summer, he was a free agent and rumours were that among the clubs looking at him, we were interested.
Indeed, the Scottish Sun suggested in the summer that he was on Neil Lennon’s wishlist for the summer window but nothing came of that.
Indeed, Hooper ended up looking as though he was going to head to Iran but that deal fell through earlier this week and he’s now trekking to the other side of the world.
He’s bound to score goals at that level, too, so good luck to him on a journey that takes him far from home.
