As the fallout from the transfer window continues, one move that did surprise most people was Leigh Griffiths’ loan deal to Dundee.

It was widely speculated that the former Scotland striker may have made the move across to Leith and return to his boyhood hero’s Hibernian, but that move failed to materialise as the player revealed Tayside was his preferred option.

Griffiths was speaking to the media about his move to the newly promoted side and let slip that it was he that orchestrated the move, “It was more myself that drove the move.

“The manager was happy for me to stay there but for me, at my age, I wanted to go and play games.

“He was happy for me to do that and I feel this is the best place for me.

“We didn’t really speak about the move, I just went to see him and said I was at an age where I need to play, and he agreed.

“There was no bad blood and we left it on good terms.

“Then it was just a matter of the clubs getting together and reaching a decision.”

Griffiths has found himself on the sidelines at Celtic as his off field antics where the last straw for the club where for two pre seasons in a row, he has failed to conduct himself in a professional manner.

There is serious doubts on whether he will pull on a Celtic jersey again, and it is fair to say that the majority of Celtic fans do not believe he has a future at the club.

With the striker seeing out his last year on loan at a potential relegation battling team, Griffiths probably knows his time at Celtic is over too.
