Chris Sutton hit back at Stephen Craigan on live TV yesterday after the former Motherwell man suggested Celtic fans would be happy if Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester City.

The Hoops boss has been heavily linked with a switch to the Foxes over the weekend after they sacked Claude Puel, with outlets such as The Daily Mail reporting that the English Premier League side are ready to meet compensation demands.

Discussing the potential move on BT Sport yesterday, Craigan said: “Isn’t it funny they are going for a treble Treble, it’s never been done before and everyone wants rid of him. I think there would be a lot of Celtic fans who would be quite happy if he left.”

Sutton though hit back quickly, telling his colleague: “Hang on a minute!  There’s a lot of Celtic fans who would be happy if Brendan Rodgers left? Nobody wants rid of him.”

Undeterred, Craigan unbelievably doubled down on the bizarre opinion, explaining: “Some would be happy if he left. I think some Celtic fans would think, ok, it’s something new and we move on.”

The former Hoops striker then summed up the opinion of Celtic fans watching on, by simply stating: “What an absolute load of rubbish. I have never heard so much utter guff.”

You tell him Chris.

It’s an absolutely moronic take to suggest that any Celtic supporters would like to see Brendan Rodgers out the door before his contract expires in 2021, especially in the middle of a treble treble bid.

Craigan isn’t exactly known for his incredible insight, but this one takes the biscuit!
