Sutton’s dig at Rangers star reminds everyone that Celtic are still top dogs

|

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has fired a dig at Rangers captain James Tavernier after today’s derby at Ibrox.

Neil Lennon’s side simply weren’t good enough throughout the Scottish Premiership clash, there’s no getting away from that.

However, some seem to have taken the defeat to mean that Steven Gerrard’s outfit are now somehow the best team in Glasgow, including Tavernier.

Chris Sutton though was quick to put him right on Twitter.

The derby is always a big occasion for both sets of supporters, but in a sporting sense today’s fixture was essentially meaningless.

To take much meaning out of it is a pretty pointless endeavour outside of individual performances, team selection and tactics on the day.

We’ve split the derbies with Rangers at two wins each this season, which is obviously changed days from the last few years, but we’re still on the brink of a treble having already secured a league title and won the league cup.

Tavernier’s team haven’t won any trophies yet and still seem a long way from doing so.
