Celtic have continued discussions in their attempt sign Daniel Arzani on loan.

Club officials were in negotiations on Sunday night as they look to get the deal over the line, as reported by The Herald.

Reports emerged last week that the Hoops were seeking to bring the Australian prospect to Glasgow on a two-year loan from Manchester City, who are expected to sign the teenager from affiliate club Melbourne City.

Since then things have gone fairly quiet on the proposed transfer, with Brendan Rodgers distancing himself from the speculation when speaking with supporters on the night of the Rosenborg first leg.

The Herald’s latest report suggests that the club are still confident of getting the deal done, with everything close to being agreed.

Arzani is one of the next great hopes of Australian football after making the breakthrough into the national team in recent months. He made three appearances at the World Cup and the winger is thought to have the potential to reach an elite level.

His first-team experience in his homeland so far is limited, but working under Brendan Rodgers and alongside Celtic’s ambitious squad, he has every chance of making an impact, especially with the breathing room a two-year deal would give him.

With Celtic needing depth in the wing areas, it’s a move that makes sense for all parties.
