TalkSport pundit thinks Rangers could play a part in Rodgers potentially leaving Celtic

|

We’re all hoping that Brendan Rodgers stays at Celtic for a few more years at the very least, with the boss continuing to impress at the helm. Especially this season, given the competition for places in the Scottish top flight, we need him more than ever.

However, he’s been linked with a move to Leicester City this week via the Sun, and with Celtic not currently as dominant as were previously, TalkSport pundit Alan Brazil thinks that Rodgers could perhaps be tempted by a move away from the club.

As per TalkSport on Twitter, he said: “Maybe Brendan feels, can I go on and do 10 in a row? Steven Gerrard is making inroads into that. They [Rangers] beat Celtic in the last Old Firm game, he’s brought some quality on loan to Rangers”.

He added: “He’s [Rodgers] got unfinished business in the Premier League”.

Clearly, Brazil’s point here is that securing 10 in a row is no longer the foregone conclusion that it seemed like a few months ago. Indeed, with the added competition coming from Rangers, is it even worth the risk of staying for Rodgers?

Certainly, he could leave the club now having achieved almost everything possible, and he could hold his head up high and move back to the Premier League.

However, we’re hoping – and indeed we’re expecting – the boss to stay put. He’s got too much to win by staying on, even if there is added risk as a result of Rangers’ rise.

He’s still got more than a few years left on his contract, and let’s not forget, we’re still in the driving seat at the top of the table.
